Today was filled with wildlife and sunshine aboard the Mystic Sea. The day started by getting to watch a Humpback for about an hour off of Guemes Island. The lively Humpback rolled and flapped it’s tail in circles. It is hard to imagine the force of these creatures until you see the water they push around.
We continued on to Colville where the Harbor Seals haul out and raise their pups. Then off to Whale Rocks with 50 – 60 Steller Sea Lions. Arriving at Eastern Bank, we were lucky enough to find another whale. This time, it was a Minke Whale. The Minke circled, rolled and was lunge feeding. So cool.
On the return trip we visited Smith Island and a Tufted Puffin. Our day was completed with Burrows Island Lighthouse, porpoise, eagles, cormorants and even a Brown Pelican. That’s right folks – a Pelican in the North.
