Transient Killer Whales cruised the Eastern shores of Orcas Island today. The whales milled, traveled and scraped against the rocks. They led us around Lawrence Point, through Doe Bay and into Buoy Bay.
The Captain took us across to Peapod Rocks to visit adorable Harbor Seals and a very proud Bald Eagle. We ventured around Obstruction Island. The Captain told the history of early settlers and showed us the beautiful Islands in the heart of the San Juan Islands.
The Captain piloted the Mystic Sea back to the whales just in time to watch them make a kill. The Transient Killer Whales swirled in circles. One whale threw a seal into the air and the others pounced as it hit the water. Their tails flapped. They did somersaults. They successfully caught their lunch.
